What is turning?

There are many techniques in the field of precision machining, like milling, turning, grinding and so on. Sometimes people cannot differentiate each technique, and customers tend to call every technique as precision machining. Today we are going to explain what is turning.

Turning is a technique used to remove excess material from the workpiece. Similar to milling, and in fact people always mix them up. The function of turning is to rotate the workpiece and bring it to a linearly moving cutting tool. The motion and shape of the cutting tool determine the final result of the part. In contrast, milling is to rotate the cutting tool and bring it to a stable workpiece.

As technology evolves over times, there are manual turning CNC turning. For manual turning, this requires an experienced operator to process, as it needs a lot of supervision. For CNC turning, the process is being operated and monitored by a programmable computer code.

There are many types of turning out there, and each of them produces different result, such as straight, conical, curved or grooved shape of parts. Which type of turning will be depending on the customer requirements.

At In Future Precision, we provide excellent turning services. Our turning technicians have more 10 years of experience in turning precision part.
